Inventor Dean Kamen holds over 400 patents worldwide, many for advancements in the field of healthcare. Some of his inventions include the HomeChoice™ portable dialysis machine, a Sterling engine that is able to convert several types of fuel into electric power and clean heat, a water purification system, and the Segway™ Human Transporter. Still, one of Kamen's proudest accomlishments is creating FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization that inspires future generations to pursue interests in science, math, and technology.
